Dear Sir or Madam
The PRO Polish Software Market Association kindly asks you to consider the possibility of cooperation.
The PRO Association is the only Polish organisation of computer software creators and producers’ copyrights collective management. We act by virtue of the Copyright and Related Laws Act of February 4th, 1994 as well as of the decision issued by the Ministry of Culture and Art (DP/041/Z/2/95 of February 1st, 1995).
Our major assignment is to protect copyrights and to limit the scope of computer piracy in Poland. It arises from the Copyright and Related Laws Act that in preparatory and court works we are allowed to represent all foreign companies, including these, which do not have their legal representatives within the territory of the Republic of Poland. Naturally, participation in the above-mentioned works requires that minor, but indispensable financial outlays are contributed. At present, police cooperation service financing, prosecutor’s office, as well as courts charge the PRO budget, being based on membership fees, software Polish producers. Naturally, it does not lie in their interest to finance protective actions of foreign producers.
Therefore, we would like to establish cooperation with the Association by joining the Association in the capacity of the PRO Association rightful member. The Association fee amounts to USD 1500 on a yearly basis.
Your joining the Association would allow us to improve effectively the cooperation with the police and the prosecutor’s office in the struggle against computer piracy and, which is very significant, would make it possible for us to take legal actions for a compensation of losses incurred by your company by virtue of unpaid licences.
